Confusion!!!

I recently posted a response to a blog regarding Socialism. The blog asked about opinions regarding socialism and the book of Amos. This blog was written by a pastor.

I gave my opinions, obviously against the idea of socialism, and waited for a response. I was shocked that the initial blogger was upset and surprised, not only at my comments, but at most of the comments made by individuals regarding his initial blog.

When you post a blog regarding a controversial topic, you should expect colorful and heated responses. I am not saying this blogger is a liberal, but I find his reaction quite typical of other liberal bloggers. They seemed to be so shocked that everyone does not agree with them. Liberals seem to get extremely upset when others' disagreements are supported by statistics and actual data. I find this reaction quite sad.

I am not saying that conservatives have all the answers. I also think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, please have an opinion that is backed up by substance. I get extremely frustrated when people express opinions in which they have no basis for feeling as they do. I try really hard to research a topic prior to expressing an opinion or taking a position. I just wish others would do the same.

Walgreens - The Devil of all Pharmacies

I had an interesting experience at Walgreens today. It was so interesting that I will now be moving all of my prescriptions to Kroger Pharmacy. I arrived at Walgreens this afternoon around 3:30 p.m. I was there to retrieve 3 Rx that had been either called in or emailed by my PCP approximately 1 1/2 hours earlier. I was told by the clerk that one of the prescriptions would not be filled because the store had no supply. The Rx was for a common antibiotic called Cipro. It is used to treat conjunctivitis or more commonly known as "pink eye."

The clerk advised that she would not be able to fill the Rx until the next day. I advised that the Rx was for my 20 month old daughter and it could not wait 24 hours. I also questioned why I was not called and advised that the Rx would not be filled. I asked why another Walgreens store was not called so that I could get the Rx filled. The clerks had no answer but stated she would call other stores. She asked if I could come inside the store and wait. I advised that would not be possible since I had a sick child in the back seat and groceries in the trunk. The clerk rolled her eyes and said "Can you at least pull to the outside lane?" I was in the drive-thru lanes of the pharmacy.

I pulled to the outside lane and waited approximately 20 minutes behind 2 other cars. I eventually made it to the window and was asked by a second employee how I could be helped. I advised that another employee was supposed to be calling other stores to check if they had the Rx I needed. The employee asked my name and left the window. She returned a short time later and advised she had all three Rx and the total would be $45. I questioned her as to how they were out of Cipro and now were able to fill the Cipro. She would not comment on the situation but only stated she had been at lunch and was unaware of the prior situation. I expressed my extreme disgust with the situation stating that I was told I could not get the Rx filled and I was then made to leave my place in line and forced to wait approximately 20 minutes to return to the front of the line.

The employee finally did explain what she thought may have happened. She stated that often the computer will show that a certain drug is not in stock but when the shelf is checked it is often available. This made me even more angry since a simple shelf check may have rectified the entire situation.

I did get my Rx filled and I left. However, I am now transferring all of my prescriptions to another pharmacy. I mentioned this story to two other people and was informed that they stopped using Walgreens a few years ago for the same reasons. I also attempted to lodge a formal complaint on the Walgreen website but as look would have it their site is down and would not accept my complaint. Go Figure!!!!!

I will never shop at Walgreens again!!!!

Interesting Take on Palin and Obama Experience

I came across this blog tonight and found it interesting. You can go the this bloggers site at http://laurieanndrainbrain.blogspot.com/. It speaks to Palin's experience and that of Barack Obama. Basically, Obama has approximately 143 days of experience. This is the number of days Congress has been in session since Obama was elected. This is a just a few of the points the blogger makes:

-- You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.
-- You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.
-- You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.

The blog continues but I will let you go to this blogger's blog to read the rest.

Just something to think about.

Women versus Sarah Palin

I was shocked and surprised when John McCain chose his running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. However, I was even more shocked and surprised when I witnessed the backlash she has received from other women.

I have never been one to support a candidate solely because of race or gender. I tend to vote for one political party over the other but have crossed party lines to vote for the best and most qualified candidate. (I actually did so in the last governor's race.) I disagree with those that support Sarah Palin or supported Hillary Clinton solely because they are women. I also disagree with those that support Barack Obama or John McCain solely because of their race.

What I find most interesting is the extreme hatred I see for Governor Palin. What is even more interesting is that a lot of this hate is expressed by women that were so steadfast in their support of Hillary Clinton - because she was a woman. During the primaries, we all heard from the National Organization for Women and other female organizations about how wonderful it would be to have a female president. But now that a female has thrown her hat into the ring for VP there is such backlash. I understand not supporting Governor Palin because one feels she may lack the experience necessary to assume the position of VP. I understand opposing her because of her strong beliefs on some issues. What I do not understand is the dialogue heard on news stations in which women state they do not like her because she is too perky or talks about her family too much.

The primaries were filled with discussions aimed at exposing sexism within the political process. Many tv networks filled their nightly news shows with stories of how Barack Obama and other male members of government were sexist in the comments made to Hillary Clinton. Many leading female rights advocates were appalled at the obvious sexism being exposed in this Presidential election.

Interesting that over the past 5 weeks Governor Palin has been grilled about her lack of experience, her perkiness, her love for her family, her failure at motherhood because her daughter is pregnant, conspiracy theories involving her new son, etc. The list can go on and on. Comments were made regarding her ability to adequately serve as VP and as a mother at the same time. It is impossible to be a good mother and hold a full time job or so the critics say. Where are the leading female rights advocates or the National Organization for Women? One would think, if they hold true to their beliefs, they would the first ones to shout from the highest mountaintop and declare comments like the ones listed above sexist and unacceptable. Yet there is only silence from these individuals. There is no shouting, no demands for equal treatment, no protests, no bra burning. There is only silence.

I always wondered what female rights organizations would do if they were ever faced with this situation. What would they do if a woman decided to run for office but did not share the liberal, leftist ideolgy shared by these groups? Would they put political opinions aside and stand up for what they claim to believe in, equal rights for all women? Would they demand equal treatment regardless of political views simply because this person is a woman and does deserve fair and equal treatment in every aspect of American society? I guess we know the answer. Do you hear that? Just more silence.

Rookie Blogger

I am new to the blogging thing so bear with me. My hope is that this blog can serve as a place to vent, brag, or just chat about meaningless things. I have left my real name off because you just never know what kind of sicko is looking at stuff like this.

I would like to start by sharing a few of my interests. I have two wonderful children and love being a mom. If you haven't guessed by now, I am married to a cop. My husband is wonderful but being married to a cop has its own challenges. The schedule sucks and it seems as though I am always defending the police profession as a whole. I am sure that will become the topic of a future blog post.

I work in the health care industry which also brings along its own set of challenges. One good thing about my family's career choices; no matter how bad the economy gets, we always have jobs!!! Compensation in service industries stink but you always have a job.

I love politics!! I will probably have a lot of blogs regarding politics. I may even write one tonight. Please feel free to engage me in healthy and respectful debate. I stand strong on my positions and I am not afraid to defend them. However, I will not engage in disrespectful arguments since they only lead to anger and more frustration.

Oh well, let's get this blogging thing up and running!! Happy Blogging!!
